Holiday Pet Care Tips

By now we have all heard about the recent news story that an Iowa pet cat recently was diagnosed with the Swine Flu. It was the first reported case in a feline. Since many pet owners consider and treat their pets like children, this should reinforce in our minds that it's important not to neglect the health of our pets this flu and holiday season.

With the hustle and bustle all of us are caught up in during the holidays, sometimes our pets don't receive as much attention as they are accustomed to. During this time period, ensure you make an effort to give your pet some extra attention. Make efforts to ensure their feeding habits are not interrupted and that they are not locked up in the house for more than 8 hours without a bathroom break. Simply stop at home to let out the dog and give he/she some attention before you dash out to those holiday sales.

Also if your pet is exhibiting any abnormal behavior, take him/her to the vet as soon as possible. If your pet is ill, it's best to catch it early to help them get better quickly. Remember, your pet cannot tell you that he/she is not feeling well.

If someone in your household is ill, even with a cold, make sure they stay away from your pet as much as possible. We know that diseases can be transmitted from the human to the animal, so try and limit your contact with your pet if you are sick and take precautions to prevent the spread of germs as you would between any member of your household.

By following these simple tips, you and your pet will enjoy a happier, healthier holiday and flu season.

Warm Weather Pet Care Reminders

This summer, make sure you are taking all the right steps to care for your animal. Your animal has very basic needs that should not be overlooked and should always be attended to each and everyday. Your Dog or Cat will be plenty of water during these hot months, as well as a proper diet, a place to relieve itself and lots of love and attention.

Food and Hydration are essential for your pets health and energy. Always have fresh water accessible, both indoors and outdoors. Make sure your Dog or Cat is getting a proper diet and fed regularly everyday at the same time, or always have food left out. Creating a routine with your pet will help your pets health and mentality.

Your animals personal needs such as eliminating, are very important to tend to. Make sure your animal has access to where ever you want them relieving themselves. Cats are born with instinct to dig and bury their waste, so as long as you have a litter box with clean litter available, you should have no problems. Dogs however need some training before they know where to go. Some dogs also will not have immediate access to outdoors, such as apartment dwelling dogs. For these situations we recommend Wee Wee Puppy Pads from Best Puppy Pads™. A highly absorbent puppy pad, available in three sizes. Avoid messes and aggravation with this amazing product. Great for older housebound dogs as well. Puppy Pads are great for any kind of dog owner.

Give your Dog, Cat, or Bird extra love and attention any time you get the chance. This will help your animal feel more secure and happy. Giving your animal extra hugs and affection can also improve their health and temperament. On the plus side for you, research has found that the simple act of petting your animal can reduce stress tremendously in humans.

Properly caring for your pet each day will help ensure you can enjoy your pet’s long, happy, healthy, life!
